About the Artist
I am a visual artist and photographer based in Berlin, Germany. My journey in the art world began at 18, and it has been a continuous evolution ever since.
My birth name is Cristina Vazquez, but I work under the artist name Cristina Haefner — a name I chose to honor my German roots and family. My mother-in-law, a well-known artist in the Frankfurt am Main area, has been a lasting source of inspiration in my life and work.
My background in interior architecture and art history has shaped me and instilled in me a deep appreciation and understanding of aesthetics, design, art, and architecture.
I graduated with a master’s in art history from Salamanca University in Spain, where I studied the history of arts, music, cinema, photography, and graphic design. A few years after working internationally in the art world, I went back to studies and completed a master’s degree in conceptual photography. Later, I worked as an intern assistant in New York for a guest lecturer during my studies, a legend in the photography world, the late photographer Mary Ellen Mark.
As a business owner, I have dedicated my entire career to various artistic fields in a very interdisciplinary way, including art curation and photography, set styling & art direction, visual communication, and brand design. I believe most artistic fields are interconnected, and exploring these diverse facets of the art world has only deepened my passion and respect for the craft.
